    Is your Ad-Aware updated as of right now? Because they claim to have updated eight more IEDefender definitions as of New Definition File 0032.0000 dated Nov. 7.

    See here:

    New definitions:

    ====================

    None

    Updated definitions:

    ====================

    AdwareAlert +2

    AntiVirGear +2

    IEDefender +8

    SpywareBot

    Win32.TrojanDownloader.IEDefender +5

    Win32.TrojanDownloader.Zlob +27

    WinAntispyware +3

    ########################################

    I went through Geekout's bleepingcompter.com link thoroughly and they make no reference to Xoftspy, and they never will.

    Xoftspy is SCAREWARE. Do not buy it.

    PS>>> Please show where in the bleepingcomputer.com site Xoftspy is mentioned...

    Edit: That Xoftspy ad is just that...an ad and I doubt that bleeping computer can control it. (I use Firefox with Ad Block Plus, so I never have to see those.)

    Anyhow I still go with the two things I said:

    1) Ad-Aware says that they updated their IEDefender definitions just today...so your Ad-Aware just may need updating.

    2) Stay away from Xoftspy. All it does is scans for free, *always* finds something (usually harmless cookies or blatant false positives) and like you said, you have to buy it to remove what it found. It's scareware.

    And if Ad-Aware still doesn't do it, then I'd go with Superantispyware, which is usually my first advice, except this time Ad-Aware claimed they had the fix ;-)

    I feel the urge to share this with you and unmask this villain before you become its next victim. IEDefender uses all means necessary to mislead you and trick you into downloading the full version of the program to "solve" your spyware problems. IEDefender is a rogue anti-spyware application. IEDefender hijacks your web browser and redirects you to IE Defender’s homepage. So if you are infected with IEDefender and do a search, IEDefender will use the search engine’s name within the message and state that you’re infected with spyware! It also pop-ups fake security alerts to deceive you! You have to be careful and NOT trust IEDefender, even though it seems legitimate. My recommendations is that you remove IEDefender immediately. Hope it works for you.

After installation SpyShredder can display tonns of fake security alerts and spyware detection reports. Also SpyShredder may hijack your homepage, download new versions of itself and other threats, redirect your searches, flood internet connection. It is recomended to remove SpyShredder from your PC.

    Perhaps I misunderstood your question...IE Defender is an application that detects spyware...it itself is not spyware.

    I apologize ahead of time if I misunderstand your question
