How do you deal with rude people?

Rude, close minded, insensitive, arrogant, etc. people...

What would you do.. or wont do if someone treats you really badly and insults you, like you're a piece of crap..?

Dealing with rude people takes strength and courage. In fact, it takes enough strength to totally ignore them and walk away. Now that's strength when you can walk away and I've done it many times. You won't believe some of the stuff that I've had to deal with and I kept my mouth shut. I once worked at a well-known college in Eastern, North Carolina, and the director of the culture center told me to get down on the floor and kiss her feet. She made rude remarks like, "I want a white secretary because black secetaries are sorry!" One day when she walked through the door, she said to me, "When I walk through that door, you are to follow me up stairs and if you see a piece of lint on my jacket, pull it off!" I held my peace for six months. I did not let her see me get angry or upset but it really pissed me off. Finally one day, I decided that I would leave. I stayed home and wrote three resignation letters. I got up early the next morning and went to work. I waited for the director until 8:00 a.m., and when she did not walk through the door, I left the letter with a lady that was working there and asked her to give the director the letter and I left the key. The woman said to me, "Wait! You can't leave until Miss Lewis gets here!" I turned around and smiled and walked out the door and I did not look back. About 7 months later the college sent me two registered letters asking me to come and tell about my experience with Ms. Lewis because she hired a white secretary and when she tried to talk to that woman like she talked to me that woman filed charges aganist her. Needless, to say, the college fired Ms. Lewis, thereafter. And there is more but it will take all night to tell you about the ugly things that she did and said to me. Be strong!

Thank GOD, you've not met and dealt with me in real life...fight rude people by being even more rude....but the true art is being rude in a polite manner, use the words and topics that will smash their balls internally...walauey, see their face turn red....and cannot say a word of defense nor attack.

Those are the true arts of being rude. But let me remind you, you won't have many friends if you do not know how to control the power of rudeness and if you succumb to the dark side, you have lost and became one of the rude peoples.

    An example,

    Mr. A: You're a piece of crap!

Me: Yeah I'm a piece of crap but you're full of it / but you're a pile of it!

    Source(s): Me, myself and I.

Hmm.. yeah.. its not a good feeling when u realized that a 'friend' had been making up stories about u and degrading your dignity to humour himself on your expense. Whether he did it with malice or simply did it coz he is an insensitive pig, his action towards you is enough to show how he viewed u as a friend. If he did not do anything wrong, he shouldn't be worried.

How i deal with these type of people?

I ignore them wishing we never been friends. Yuck.

In most cases, I'd talk to them. But when it gets too much, I'd walk out of the situation without saying a word. And if he/she pushes his luck, I'll have no choice but to retaliate. When that happens, something must be really wrong with that person.

the best thing to do is to just ignore them. you don't have to get yourself heated up over these people, don't worth at all.

if someone insults you , the best way to deal with them is also to show your mean side ( only once ) and then ignore them. no point keep on confronting each , it'll never ends. totally ignorance will gradually keep these people from your life.

Well, if i use violence, it would be a crime.

Either i would walk away or find out a secret way that would make themselves look bad in front of a crowd.

If it was in work, i would tell my boss. But if it is my boss, i don't know.

Kick 'em in the balls. seriously? they tend to win over favor of anyone else involved. simply because they don't want to get ripped on as well. either out wit him and make 'em look stupid, or try to lure them into a fight, and "kick 'em in the balls". thats what i do.

they lose support from people around them, and they lose all convidence.

never faced with this situation face to face, but i sure hope i would have the guts to fire back. provided i know how to do it with tact. otherwise, to walk away, is to return the insults with dignity.

often when a car passes by and hooligans yelling obscenity/racist remarks to me, my middle finger shows up instinctively. bad i know but it's my reflective system, i cant help it.
