An essay can be absolutely anything. The version with 3 body paragraphs is known as the 5 paragraph essay which is the most common in high school but a essay can be absolutely anything you want basically as long as you have an intro, support and evidence, questions and ideas, and a conclusion. You can have as many or as few pararaphs as you want.

Your essay can have four paragraphs, remember 1 intro 3 body paragraphs and a conclusion is only a guide; you can add paragraphs or take away. Quality is more important the quantity.

Your essay should be as long as necessary to get your point across without being redundant. I don't see a reason why the teacher would mark you down for going beyond the 3 body paragraphs.

Yeah, you may desire to surely circulate away it. as long as each and each paragraph is definitely-supported, and not great long, it is not a concern. no longer all essays could carry on with the "5 paragraph" variety. surely, maximum shouldn't.

    Study Skills, Essay Writing.

As the essay paper has evolved it has become more demanding with much more emphasis on posing questions which allow candidates to display the higher order skills. Professor Roy Wilkinson of Sheffield University has identified a pyramid of skills which A level examinations try to test.

Yes, yes it can. It can have as many body paragraphs as you need, as long as you keep to the point. "Why limit yourself to 3?" as my APWH teacher said last year. xD
