Dodge Diseil won't start.?

I am at my wit's end (& I'm down to one only).

1996 2500 Ram P/U New batteries, starter tests great, New cables, replaced neutral safety switch. Relys test good. All I get is a click from the solenoid when I turn the ignition on.

Any ideas??

Thanks

OK Dude, hears what I believe has happened. The starter on most Chrysler cars and trucks use Nipendenso starters. They are good except for the solenoid contact points burning down inside the solenoid until they no longer make contact to turn the starter motor. It just clicks. Remove the starter and take it to an auto electric shop and they will replace the contacts for say $50 or so. Or you can buy a reman. for around $250. I have personally repaired dozens of these starters by soldering copper stripes on top of the burned off contact points, but you need to know how, so I recommend you take it to a auto electric and have them replaced.

try taking a socket and a big ratchet and seeing if the engine will turn over by hand first ,there could be internal problems causing this to happen,or it could be locked, usually if it will turn by hand the starter will turn it,something may be against the flywheel causing it not to turn over, anythings possible ,good luck.

make sure the engine will turn over by hand. it may be hydro locked, something in the ballhousing could be wedged against teh flywheel, or internal engine damage.
