    I will answer base on meeting a female.

    I generally first notice attitude, carriage, how they 'carry' themselves. Then that will progress to, not intelligence per se, but to understanding. The to wit (not just humor).

    Although, I did meet one young woman who talking to someone else and she was actually, really, honestly LISTENING to him talk. It was so clearly evident, that I just sat and watched until I was able to talk to her myself.
