what do people use a bb gun for when fishing?

been fishing all my life,that's 50 yrs never heard of taking a BB gun fishing.down south we take a double barrel shot gun.we got BIG snakes.

As a kid I used to take a BB gun fishing at the local stock ponds.

Throw out my line, and as Im waiting for a bite Id shoot turtles and bullfrogs.

But on big offshore fishing trips, one of the captains on the boats usually has a shotgun or other gun of some sort, in case of a big shark. Only because its dangerous to pull up a big shark flopping around the deck biting anything it can with customers around it trying to get a good picture. So we gaff it, shoot it until its dead, then pull it up the side of the boat, just for safety's sake.

Who takes a BB gun fishing?

I have never heard of anyone.

for fun... when youre the only one fishing its fun to shoot cans to pass the time while youre waiting for a fish to bite.

There is no legitimate reason I can think of.
