How awful! Two things you might consider:

    1. Send an e-mail to one of the officers listed under Professional Standards here: http://www.ci.pensacola.fl.us/ppd/division.asp?act... Ask if the investigation is still proceeding and, if not, whether there is anything you might do to assist. See what they write back. If you're not satisfied, send a copy of the response along with this form (http://myfloridalegal.com/Contact.nsf/Contact?Open... to file a complaint with the Attorney General against the police for abandoning the investigation. Call the AG on his comments posted at the AG website:

"Message from Attorney General Bill McCollum

Fellow Floridians, I firmly believe in the principle that government must be accountable to the people. The Florida Constitution – the document that sets forth our rights as citizens of this great state – provides that the public has the right to know how government officials at all levels spend taxpayer dollars and make the decisions affecting your lives. It is how you are able to hold us accountable. As such, the principle of open government is one that must guide everything we in government do for you."

If the AG's office is not helpful, take your story to the media.

    2. If you still get nowhere, pool some resources - maybe seek financial assistance from an advocacy group - and hire a private investigator.

In the meantime, watch the papers for similar crimes and inform police if a pattern of some kind is suggested.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Best of luck.

My first answer would have been to go on the internet and find a forum, maybe something like... I dunno, Yahoo! Answers, and go on a tirade. But even if there were such a forum, I don't think it would do you any good.

Still, investigators don't exhibit much interest when even those close to the case tend to clam up and offer little information. Somebody knows something but isn't forthcoming. And investigators aren't mind-readers.

Of course, It Might Have Had Something To Do With People Who Capitalize Every Word In Their Sentences.
