What are some things to do with potassium perchlorate?

I have a lot of potassium perchlorate and i was wondering if anybody knew and cool things to do with it OTHER than make flash powder (been there done that). And i was also wondering if potassium perchlorate and potassium chlorate were the same thing?

Potassium perchlorate and potassium chlorate are NOT the same. Potassium chlorate is used in some matches and to prepare oxygen in the laboratory. What you have is KClO4.

If you heat potassium perchlorate with sulfuric acid under reduced pressure, you get percloric acid which EXPLODES above 92C. I hope you call a hazardous waste company so they can dispose of it properly. Good Luck!
