The Supreme Court has said it will take this up in the next 8 months. A moratorium on executions until the Court decision is developing.
Those raising lethal injection challenges (both those executed and those stayed) are generally claiming that the drugs used in the executions cause extreme and unnecessary pain, and that the combination of chemicals masks the pain being experienced by the inmate from the sight of those administering the death penalty.

New Jersey's legislature is currently considering abolishing the state's death penalty.
