the moon crashed with the earth?
What would it be like if the moon crashed with the earth? I want to see it.

You want to see it? . . . no, you really don't.
Because our Moon is very large and exerts a tremendous gravitational pull on our water and on our atmosphere. As the Earth and the Moon moved closer and closer, all the water in our rivers and oceans would start sloshing around in big waves, flooding everything. There would be wind - hurricane force winds - everywhere. And if the Moon crashed into the Earth, it would probably destroy thousands of square miles, and be a global catastrophe. A lot of people and animals would die. Human life might not even survive on the Earth after that. The only things left alive might be some plant life, and some fish and bugs. They can survive anything.

It would be a disaster! The main problem would be the tides. The tides of the ocean are dependent on the movement of the sun and moon, so there would be massive flooding as the moon came closer to earth. I'm also pretty sure that the other planets in our solar system would be pulled out of orbit as well creating a domino effect. When the moon strikes the earth, the earth would most likely get knocked out of orbit as well. The moon may even break apart as it comes through earth's atmosphere creating many dangerous massive rocks that would pepper earth and ultimately destroy it. Try to get ahold of the book "Horizons, Exploring the Universe", by Michael A. Seeds. It's a university textbook but it's easy to understand (entry-level astronomy) and it's fascinating!

Actually, it is conjectured that the moon was formed by exactly such a collision. Either way, there is no possibility of the moon crashing into the earth as it is actually receding from the earth at a rate of about a foot a year.

The moon was (so astronomers think) the result of a collision with the earth of another body several billion years ago.
If the moon came back down, the crust of the earth would be liquefied. That would reset the clock about 3 billion years!

Actually, the moon is slowly drifting away from the Earth.
If for whatever reason it crashed into the Earth, you probably wouldn't see it. The massive upheaval of gravitational forces preceding the impact would cause so much volcanic activity, earthquakes, and tsunamis that I doubt anyone would be left alive by the time of actual impact.
Sorry.

Me too. From space of course. Or maybe from a protective energy bubble on earth. It would be the most catastrophic thing this world has ever witnessed. over 90% of all life on the planet would perish. Molten rock would rain from the sky. It would be hell on earth. It all depends on how fast the moon crashes with earth though.

Depending on the velocity the moon was going it would either smash the earth or if it was going slower it would make a big crater and send the earth out of it's orbit. Then we would all freeze to death or burn up depending on which way the earth went.

well, other than utter destruction, the end of the human civilization, an extensive breach of our atmosphere causing the pressure to practically liquify our bodies i'd say pretty much the end of all existence on Earth....HOWEVER...it's common knowledge that the moon is actually moving AWAY from Earth. So, good thing we don't have to worry about that.
Source(s): Well, for a QUICK reference, u can go here...it seems pretty accurate, however I'm under the impression when the Sun swells to Red Giant the Earth will actually be moved out of range from the force of the explosion. Earth will be hotter, but not actually end...however i don't plan to be around either way ;) - April WLv 51 decade ago
On Discovery channel, they have a program about the development or the Earth and our Solar System. In it, they explain that it is very likely that the moon DID collide with the Earth a few million years ago. There's a simulation of the theory on this website: http://www.classzone.com/books/earth_science/terc/...
