There's no general 'because we are in Texas we listen to country music' music. It depends on the type of people, where are they located, what are their preferences, their ethnicity, their religion ans so forth, I know this to apply a lot to the older generation. Whilst the younger generation has been know to listen to almost everything from rock, pop, rnd, soul, kwaito (township pop), contemporary gospel, hip hop, rave, to even maskandi (Zulu pop culture music).

Well people here listen to Pop, Rock, Techno, little R&B, little hiphop, some rap and songs in their own language....but in the clubs they play a lot of techno music, remixed songs. They don't play rap music or a lot of hip hop music in the clubs like they do in the US.

I would say that people here listen to all kinds of music, but there most popular genres would be jazz and house music.

All the above got it right. South African young people listen to all of the above. I can't say that they listen to a particular one over the other, but it's worth noting that kwaito and maskandi are some of the authentic "Made in SA"....^^(((<>)))^^
