I sent an excel 2007 file to my home cpu via email and my excel 2003 will not open it. What can I do...?

This is the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack which will give you the ability to work with Office 2007 files from Office XP and Office 2003.

As mentioned above, you can also save from Office 2007 as Office 97-2003 format...but the above link will give you the ability to open the file you've already created and sent.

There is a compatibility patch you can download from the Microsoft Office homepage that will allow you to access those files. If not, be careful when saving files in Office 2007 that you can chose to save them in the backwards compatible format (Office 2000-2003).

On your home computer download and install the Compatibility Pack.

In the future when saving documents using 2007 Office products, you can select Save As and choose an earlier version as well.

Your best option will be the Microsoft Compatibility Pack available for download on the Microsoft website.

Other alternative if this doesn't work include:

Going back to your Excel 2007 select save as and choose a backwards compatible xls file format, you should have many choices such as office 2000 compatible xls. Send this home and bingo! :)

Your other options if you don't wish to edit it would be to download an Excel reader, Microsoft used to make them available on their website, or you could download a freeware office suite such as openoffice that should offer xls compatibility.
