What do people think about driver points not staying with the driver when they move to a different team?

Don't they lose their points if they go to a different team, and the points that they have earned stay with the car?

They don't lose their driver points unless the driver switch is done during the offseason.

Driver points are always attached to that driver. However, driver's points are basically only good for the current year of competition, they have no bearing on the top 35 lock. I think what you mean is when the owner's points that a driver in one car earns get transferred to another car. Owner's points usually stay with the car in which they were earned but they can be transferred to ANY car or number that the same owner has. I hope this helps some.

they would keep driver points and lose owner points as those would stay with the team

I think 'tregosteevo' answered your question perfectly. Just remember everyone starts the same at the begining of each season.
