Hamster Wheel?

i've heard of times when hamsters just dont get in the wheel! it can be that your wheel is very quiet (thats a good thing! :D)and your hamster is really running in the wheel while you're sleeping.

or maybe he's still adjusting. hamsters will run in their wheel when they feel like it. he'll figure out what a wheel is sooner or later

i dont think its much of a problem! good luck with your hamster :D

oh and you can feed carrots, celery, almost anything! EXCEPT tomatoes and citrus fruits because of their acids.

In the wild hamsters would travel up to 8 miles a night on those little legs of theirs in search of food, so hamsters that are domesticated are just playing out an instinct that is built into them. But yes, your right, you would think that they would realise they are not getting anywhere fast! Hamsters diets can be quite high in fat to as they love sunflower seeds, hazlenuts, monkey nuts etc, and being in a cage all day can cause obesity in hamsters so its actually a way for them to kep healthy too. Me and my husband have had our male hamster a year, and he's no ones fool. He has never played on his wheel the whole time we have had him, so we have to make sure he comes out of the cage at least an hour every day to exercise.

not sure about the fruit n veg but the wheel prob i can help my hamster don't rlei like going on wheel and my cage has 2 wheels built in lol they do tend to chew on stuff but that a gd thing it keep his lil teeth down adn some hamster i guess dont' liek it but that wont make him un healthy he goes in his ball that sumhting and he prob runs around his cage at night while your asleep soo i'm sure he fine x

Not all hamsters like wheels, I had 2 syrian hamsters that did not like wheels...

Carrots, lettuce are good but avoid overfeeding him as a lot of green vegetables could cause diarrhea.

My hamster didn't get in his wheel until he was with me for a month. How long have you had your hamster? I guess hamsters will just try things when they want to. Also you can feed your hamster Carrots and Lettuce. they love both!!!!

my hamster would not use his wheel either so i got him a bigger one and he cant get off of it! maybe his wheel is too small. you r hamsters can eat fruits but not high in acids so no oranges or stuff like that.

our hamster hated his first wheel so we got a bigger one and he seems to like it! it is plastic - cool. Ours loves his roll ball also - we got the medium and the large and switch back and forth! he sounds like a quiet little guy -

yeah some don't use them and be careful my brothers hamster was in one of those huge plastic cages and it choked on part of the plastic and died. they have treats at the store you can give it usually dried fruit

be sure to give him the kind of wheel where there arent open metal bars. his feet could get stuck in them and break. happened to mine. died of stress. so get a plastic wheel

my hamster never used his wheel. he can have dethawed corns, pees, just not lettuce
