Can any one tell me the language and meaning of the word or phrase النجم?

Update:

Wotan -- I received this in an email message. I thought it was Arabic, but did not know what it might mean (in context, not just a literal translation). I used "cut and paste" to transfer it to the question.

النَجْم nagm in arabic means the star this is the first meaning

It can also mean stars - that as the same word can be understood like a collective noun - or planet, or luminary, an important person.

I think its an Arabian word, and it means Star or something similar to it. النجوم is a word from the same root and means astronomy.
