Check in contacts, click on show off line contacts to see if they are there. If they are, then click on the little arrows by the group names on main window. If they do not show then, uninstall and reinstall messenger.

Try uninstalling Yahoo Messenger then downloading it again. You won't lose any of your contacts, I assure you:

Click on: Start

Click on: Control Panel

Click on: Add/Remove Programs

Click on: Yahoo Messenger then remove
