In southern jersey my hubby and each of his 2 friends have gotten 4 between them. No bucks yet though. My hubby's driving me crazy though, he keeps seeing an 8 pointer, out of shooting range though. They are all betting on who's going to get it. My husband claims it's his though! Last year he had a monster 12 pointer get away, he'd be pissed I was revealing that, but oh well. He had a good shot, but they jumped it while tracking it and it disappeared into a swamp. So sad.

Yup, opening day of MN firearm season shot a nice spike. I only had given myself the first weekend this year to hunt. I usually take the first 9 days straight and then hunt the last weekend if necessary to fill my tags.

The freezer was already pretty full and we are planning to relocate to FL next year so no sense filling a bunch of tags just to shoot deer. I like second year deer and usually take that size doe because I enjoy the meat much more and believe in helping control the overpopulation rather than hunting large racks.

I was a rack hunter when I was much younger, but enjoy the hunt more than the game at this point. I have had many days when I hung the gun on the stand and took photos. Almost as fun although not the adrenalin rush you get when you pull up and shoot a deer.

Had my deer gutted, registered, skinned, deboned and carcass burnt to ashes before dinner time opening day. A near perfect day.

    Congratulations on yours!

Hunting in Missouri, I got a nice 8-point on day 2. (It may have been Bambi, Pablo.) I had passed on a couple of bucks day 1, because I prefer a button or young doe. By day 2, I'm not as picky. I still need at least one more to get me through the year.

Today is the beginning of trapping season, too. I am looking forward to getting a nice raccoon, fox, and coyote pelt harvest this winter. I may even go after some bobcat, cottontail, and squirrel this year.

it's rifle season now and i got an ok 13 point in archery it was about 15 yards and a unmissable shot but the horns are not typical and i really didn't want it in the buck pool so i took the shot and it only ran about 20 yards before it fell and when i was gutting it a huge buck at least 20 inside(because it was past the ears and the ears are usually around 17 or 18 inches) i was so mad!!!

The hunt is over out west. It has been for a few weeks. I passed up several smaller bucks and didn't get a big one. My brother got a 9 point buck (by eastern counting standards) that was 20 inches wide.
