What are some songs that you'd never expect to hear on acoustic guitar that I should record & put on YouTube?
I am looking for ideas for some songs to record and put on YouTube. I don't want to do any songs that have been done on there hundreds of times already.
Think along the lines of songs that are really heavy and would sound odd being played on acoustic guitar, such as "The Beautiful People" by Marilyn Manson or any song that is really distorted to begin with. Also think along the lines of songs that are not traditional rock songs, maybe pop songs like Britney Spears or The Spice Girls or N'Sync. I asked a question earlier about the chords for the song "My Neck My Back". Anything that you would never expect to hear on acoustic guitar. I'm going to sing along too.
I'm just looking to do stuff that no one else has already put on there. I'm trying to do some serious covers and some humorous stuff too, hence The Spice girls and other pop artists.
I just love the idea of hearing songs performed with a drastically different sound, such as when bands do un-plugged performances.
I don't have a YouTube account yet. I am setting one up though and then I have to record the songs. I am not a pro guitarist, but I'm not terrible either.

okay I know this is weird but my husband plays guitar also and for our wedding 'the wedding march' (here comes the bride) was done on an acoustic instead of the piano! It was beautiful and everyone loved it!!! might be something worth looking into, I know it is nothing like the music your talking about but no one at our wedding had ever heard it done like that before!

Be careful about covers...the owners of the copyright could get on your case....that's a form of copyright infringement, unless you have a license agreement with the copyright holder.
However, I have heard Led Zeppelin is not fussy about that stuff and gets a kick out of people covering them like that. Any Zeppelin tune, "Achille's Last Stand" or whatever, would be good.
I have heard Mick Jagger is also very excited in a good way when anybody covers Satisfaction...guaranteed you won't be lawyers after yourself with that one.

why don't you try pump it by blackeyed peas or mr. personality by gilette.. i think it will sound really odd when turned into acoustic version..
