1999 528i brake problem?
When I started the engine this morning it cranked fine and was idling perfectly. I put it in gear (tiptronic tranny) and I noticed that brakes were not stopping the car. As I pushed on the brake pedal more the engine started shaking an finally stopped completely. I tried to start the engine again but now it will not crank like the battery does not have enough juice. But the battery is only 6 moths old and all the lights and windows work fine. Why would pressing on the brake pedal turn the engine off.

Doing tiptronic in cars with no clutches is bad for the car if you do it often. Also try getting your brake pads and discs checked and possibly replaced. Spark plugs could be another problem.

You most likely have a charging system problem push on the brake will cause a load on the electrical system with the the lights and the ABS system having to work along with every thing else I would check my fan belt making sure it is not slipping cause the alternator not to do its job, but you could have combination of problems also related to the low battery anyway have the car check out before you get stuck somewhere or worse have an accident.good luck
