The Gardasil shot?

I am so on the fence about this shot. My sis got it and said it hurt big time! Well my mom wants me to get it but all I hear is the side effects have been proven yet and all that stuff! I plan not to have sex for a long time so thats not my problem. I just don't want to end up with cancer but then again I don't want the to end out with the possible side effects that might come! I heard it hurts big time which I am not looking forward to! What are your opinions on this shot? I have mixed feelings for sure! Obviously, I don't want cancer!

It really doesnt hurt! I had no side effects! and the shot protects you against certain types of HPV, which is a sexually transmitted disease, and HPV can cause cervical cancer in some cases. if youre a virgin then youre fine, but you should still get the vaccination because im sure SOMEDAY you will have sex. and when you do, just be safe every single time and use a condom so you wont get HPV!! get the shot, you'll be glad that you did!

There are lots of reasons to get the series of shots. For one those three quick injections will be much less painful than ending up with a cancer causing strain of HPV.

How likely are you to get HPV? Frankly.. very, 80% of all sexually active people have had HPV at one time or another. There are over 100 types of HPV. Only a handful cause either actual warts or cancer.

Generally it lasts about 2 years and your own body will fight off the virus. For some reason it can last longer in some folks. They do not know why (Maybe weak immune system).

Condoms can help stop the spread (to the covered areas) but are not 100% effective.

After exposure some folks develop issues within months and some folks have it sit latent for YEARS - SCARY!

So get the shot, (it is a little uncomfortable but not horrendous), Get your pap tests done every year and use condoms. Three really great steps you can take to protect yourself.

    Good Luck!

i are turning out to be the Gardasil pictures, and that i did not adventure any element effects different than for soreness on the injection website for in line with probability a pair hours in a while. And it wasn't even that painful, merely a splash comfortable right here and there. Its a shot, thats it. not the tip of the worldwide.

Your sister must be giving you a very hard time. Both of my daughters got it and they said they did not even feel it. This immunization could eliminate all vaginal and uterine cancers. Why would you not want to get it. When I was your age, there was nothing to protect us. So now you have something that can only do good, and you are afraid of a shot. Go get it now. The advantage out ways any risk. They only side effect of the injection is redness around the injection site. If you get that, it will only last a couple of days. Please lets get rid of this virus once and for all. Do not be afraid.

The virus which causes this cancer has no symptoms in a male who is infected, and it is permanent(I think?).

You may not be sexually active except with your fiancee or husband, but you won't know where they have been, or with whom.It is unrealistic to expect then to be honest or forthcoming in this matter, it not being a perfect world.

My best advice is to get the shot and ignore people who think this will prove you are a sleeparound. It provides good protection for the most virtuous. It is too late if you catch the virus

I have gotten 2 out of the 3 Gardasil shots. I have to say, it did hurt more than a normal shot, but it is worth it. One little pinch of pain is the least you can do to protect yourself. I know there are side effects, but so far I haven't got any. They now have something to prevent this type of HPV and I think it's a good thing. It's your decision in the end. Good luck! :)

In my state, they're mandating all girls in school have to have it as part of their immunization course. I call bullocks. It hasn't been out long enough to mandate! I'm on the fence about getting it, too, and refuse to until it's been out longer and I've seen any problems.

I think you should explain to your mom that while it's very kind of her to be watching out for you and concerned about your health, you want to wait it out some until it's proven safe and effective from real experience. Hopefully she'll recognize the intelligence in her daughter and support you!

You are not the only person who does not want cancer. lol But my friend got the shot. She said it did hurt really bad. But I think maybe you could wait till your older if possible. (idk your age). But think of it this way, wouldnt you rather suffer for a little bit because of a shot rather then suffering from cancer?

Gardasil does not vaccinate against cancer. It vaccinates against H.P.V which is a sexually transmitted disease that has been known to cause cervical cancer. If you don't sleep around, you will not get H.P.V.
