I need to know how Name your price from Priceline works?

I have some time off for work and this would be the perfect time to see my better half who has to be away. But I am very short on cash. Would somebody tell me how Priceline works

on the Name your price is the day you pick the day you get. Is their a possibilty being bumbed off a flight.

Update:

I have one more question about this. If the price is not accepted, would they bill me for a bigger amount that maybe the airline wants or do i just to another bid?

You won't be flying standby, so you'll only get bumped if they flight is overbooked (which is an airline problem, not Priceline). What you do is pick a day and offer a price. You will also put in your credit card number. If they can get your price and day, you must purchase that flight (your card will be charged automatically). You will not be able to choose your time or your airline, which is why I never use it.

Edit: No, you won't be automatically charged a higher price. You will have to bid again.

We actually used Priceline for a trip from the midwest to California. We had four seats together, completely saved a ton of money and were on a well known airline. We didn't have a problem!

I have booked a hotel on priceline and didn't feel like the rating they gave was correct. They said it was a 3 star hotel, but I don't think anyone else would have agreed. Just tell them how much you are willing to pay for the flight and see if anyone will accept your bid. Yes, the day you pick will be the only day they will search.
