Recipe for specific fritter from Puerto Rico? Please see description below before answering.?
SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY PLEASE.
I am looking for the recipe of a puerto rican fritter.
I know how the name of the fritter is pronounced but not sure how it's spelled: Guichi, Wichi, or Uichi. I'm almost sure it's the first one.
It's similar to a papa rellena except that it has cheese inside, I don't know what kind of cheese, and I've eaten it in the town of Corozal with ham inside, although I'm not sure if that would be called something different. I do know that it's a popular fritter in the town of Comerio.
If anyone knows what I'm talking about could you please get me the recipe? Or could you be kind enough to ask around for me? Thanks a million!
There's a mention of it on youtube with a quick picture about 3 minutes and 20 seconds into the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwIvKnbcw...
I've tried searching all over the internet for this recipe but have found nothing. The recipe must come from someone who is familiar with it and knows how to m
Thanks for everyone's answers....much appreciated but none of them are what I'm looking for. The item is definitely called Guichi, it is not called anything else, and I'm sure of what it is since I've eaten it before on more than one ocassion ALSO it is mentioned and pictured in the video mentioned above. I've searched up and down the web and have seen all the sites before that have been recommended.THIS IS NOT A FIGMENT OF MY IMAGINATION....LOL..this question can only be answered by someone who KNOWS and is not guessing that I'm talking about something else. Hopefully maybe someone who lives in the town of Comerio can help as it seems to be a common item in that particular town.

Perhaps it is as you say something local in comerio and corozal. I live in southern side of Puerto Rico and I have never heard of it.

The airport asks for a valid driving force's license no remember what state that's from. however the cruise ships require greater. The time from checking identity and leaving the deliver might selection. it is by way of what number passangers would be getting off, if each and every person's identity is so as devoid of problems. that's such as you're saying out of your place to the save you're taking 10 minutes notwithstanding it would desire to take greater effective than that by using a a risk site visitors congestion, twist of fate or what ever has exceeded off. So this could take time observing the situations. right for you is which you get in touch with the shuttle business enterprise which you're utilising or direct with the shopper amenities of the cruise deliver so that they might inform you properly by using fact each and every port of each and every island is distinctive and not all standards are the comparable.

You can try this recipe. This might be what you're thinking of:
Almojábanas
(Cheese-filled rice fritters)
OR
Arepas de Vieques
(Vieques-style fritters)
Can't put all the recipes here...so check these sites:

I don't think you're imagining it...but can't find the video that you're talking about. It could someone's slang when referring to the fritura because there is no 'guichi'.
I know how to make fritters but this 'guichi' is not recognized.

The geocities link may be able to help you. As with all "down home soul food" type dishes, my advice is to improvise.
