Why do the Lakers still have Kwame Brown?
As a life long Laker fan, why is this joke still wearing not only a Laker, but an NBA jersey? he has 1 move thats like a retard version of the dream shake, that every defender knows. the only time he goes hard to the rim is when he's not covered. i think its because he has small hands. for a number1 pick he really sucks and makes me angry everytime he plays and bynum or mihm doesnt. hell, jordan even hated his asss. BOYCOT BROWN!

Because Kupchak (NC grad) thinks he's the next coming of Bill Russell. He probably traded Caron Butler for him, because Jordan (also an NC guy) is the one who drafted him. So hell, he must he be great. Who knows what Mitch is thinking half of the time. My question is, why does Phil keep playing him?

No thank you. Kwame may have had his best years as a Laker, but those years were still mediocre and not what you would expect from someone who was a number one draft pick. Furthermore they just dumped Kwame last season for someone named Pau Gasol; why bother taking him back? The Lakers will have a perfectly good center when Andrew Bynum comes back, thank you, and I don't think they'll want to ruin the team chemistry if they sign Kwame back. If they sign Kwame back, believe me when I say this, Kobe will definitely say that he wants to be traded.

I think the lakers are asking the same question (j/k... sorta)! He's a pretty good defender, better than bynum (as of now) and mihm (as of forever)... he's a guy that just mystifies everyone. After a particulary good stretch of games for brown last year, phil jackson brought a stat sheet to his attention... it was an old stat sheet from his bulls days where dennis rodman had a triple-double... big rebound numbers, like 10 or so assist and ten or eleven points and a couple of steals in a pivotal game. Phil asked him what he thought of the stat line. Jax was trying to get it into Kwame's head that he could be the same type of player with the same impact if he would just accept that thats what he is, a good strong defender, rebounder, and shot blocker... but Kwame's response was "I would've liked to of scored more points..."
so there it is... the reasons we have still him is that the lakers gave him a good contract based on his potential. but the league knows better and he's just too inconsistent and injury prone to get anything for him... and trust me they've tried.

Wow finally a true L.A. fan sees the the most 7 million dollar year contract is useless. I would rather have mihm, Vladimir Radmanovic, or up-excited Ronny Turiaf. Heck he contributes to Kobe more b/c he adds that energy and excitement. Brown doesn't at all. Shoot, he makes Tim Duncan look fun (LOL)
But one purpose I guess he's been serving is the little defensive side(body-wise) But then again u might as well put Ronny Turiaf in!!! He knows what means to fight for your life!!!

just like chris mihm, he was at one time thought of as a player of great potential who had a shot at really helping the team, now they are both now seen as big busts and a long contract the Lakers cant get rid of, he sucks and is too soft, plus, i cant believe he starts over bynum,

It's not that he has small hands. Its just, he's not a good basketball player, period!!! It doesn't really matter because next season he's off the books with his expiring contract.
Lakers did not and will not re-sign Kwame Brown. Forget about him, for all we know he'll be in the injured list.

Because no one else wants him and his contract is not expired. He was a bust for the Lakers and he was the beginning of a bunch of stupid moves made by the Lakers, like trade Caron Butler.

Thats just the chance you take drafting a kid outta H.S. Not all of them turn out to be great. I guess Laker management thought he'd blossom in L.A. It's anybodys guess.
