If you run games using an emulator, does it reduce overall game performance?

    it depends what gaming platform you're emulating - as long as the emulator is stable and well developed, and the machine you're running it on is very powerful in comparison to the gaming platform being emulated it should run as good as the real thing.

    as an example, on a standard and fairly modern low-end pc (around a 1ghz cpu) you can run playstation1/dreamcast generation games and below really well. move up to playstation2/xbox level games and you'll need a more powerful pc to run them at a decent frame rate.
