Freemason/ Masonic Tattoos?

As an Entered Apprentice I don't plan on doing this until agter my 3rd degree, But is there anything in Masonic Law that prevents me from getting a Masonic Tattoo? Basically I just want the compass and square but want to be sure it's okay first. I would ask my brothers but I want it to be a surprise to a couple of our brothers. I only ask because of my obligation and a sentence that kind of details this... I'm the youngest brother in our lodge at 28 and use tattoos to mark important times in my life that's why I want this. I also feel a little awkward asking my brothers at the lodge because they are much older than I and some frown upon tattoos anyway...

Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated feel free to email me... Chedderbob79@hotmail.com

Thanks again Rob Haller...

Nothing wrong with it, although some brothers might object- but it's more a matter of personal like or dislike. I'd suggest waiting a while since this is a pretty permanant thing. When you do it, go to someone who's a real artist.

Some of the brothers going through in the last few years have displayed some truly remarkable and astonishing tattoos when appearing in the candidate's robes.

Funny you should ask I saw a guy with the compass and square with a G over it tattooed on his bicep. I'm no Mason but are you supposed just like put your info out there like that?Ya know letting everyone know you don't plan on doing this for the rest of your life and all. I thought Masons are for life.

I wouldn't do it, I don't think that there is anything wrong with it but I suggest you not. The reason, at times, we're persecuted. In Nazi Germany Free Masons were rounded up and murdered just like the Jews and Gay men. In Europe, they do not wear Masonic Jewelry or have Masonic license plates for that very reason. You don't know what the future holds so I wouldn't if I were you. Study hard so you can go for your Fellow Craft.

I would wait until after you get your 3rd, actually I'd wait until your in for about a year. That way you'll be more appreciative of your tattoo, and what better way to commemorate your anniversary? :)
