Is this the first time England will not compete in the Euro?

I'm curious--- a Euro without England. Sounds funny... something will definitely be missing. Is this the first time England has not qualified? If not, when was the last time, or how many times has it happened? Thanks!!!

The TV companies and off licences and supermarket beer and lager departments will be the ones to lose... With no England in the competition. most fans wont bother watching the other countries playing. So no groups around the TV with the tinnies. So TV advertising will suffer also as the footie time is usually advertising prime time... Sales of shirts and other regalia will suffer too. All this and the despair at the FA might make them pull their socks up.. Biggest thing to be answered to resolve some of the problems is.....Who runs football in England.... The FA or the Premier League, It is the Premier League that has caused a lot of the problems.....

England failed to qualify in 1984 for the Euro. They also failed to qualify for the World Cup in 1974, 1978 and 1994.

They didnt have to qualify in 1966 as hosts or in 1970 as the holders.

They didnt need to qualify for Euro 96 as they were the hosts.

There was no Euro in 1978 as it was World Cup year in Argentina.

the last time ENGLAND failed to qualify for the UEFA European Championship was in 1984 when they finish 2nd in Group 3 behind group winners DENMARK in the qualifiers. they missed out on qualification by just a point.

they also did not feature in 1964, 1972 & 1976 finals. back then, the UEFA European Championship features only 4 teams until 1976.

A least England are always entertaining.

They've had pantomime goalkeepers for the last 17 years, and now they've added a pantomime pitch.
