cheating athletes and the people who believe them?
In the light of the Marion Jones scandal with doping. Do you think that athletes who are obviously using steroids (women who look like men, and men who look like gorillas) will come under closer scrutiny by the various athletic federations to stop the rampant cheating amongst these athletes?

that would be nice but I highly doubt it. For many years people took one glance and knew that they were on roids and yet "their tests" came back negative. I think that breaking the previous records has become too important and the only way for this to be regularly done is for the athletes to use these drugs. It's ugly but it is the reality of the matter. The days when athletes won on ability and God given talent are long gone.

First, what facts do you have to support " rampant cheating" as commonplace within the athletic community ? Because a woman looks like a man or a man looks like a gorilla is no indication that steroids are in use. Some women look like " jocks" and some guys are just plain ugly. Apparently you believe in" profiling" Well, sweetheart , if the various athletic federations base their judgements on outward appearances the whole damn bunch should find other endeavors.

Many organizations have been testing for years.
Lots of people are caught, but do not make the news like Jones did.
The problem is that large amounts of money are available and the cheats stay about 1 year ahead of the testers when it comes to developing new drugs and the time it takes to develop tests to detect the new drugs.
Track and field has been testing for years, not just in competition but year round.
Jones was tested often and never failed a test, she did test positive once, but her "B" sample was not positive so she got off.
Now a bigger problem is anyone who is successful the public assumes they are cheating.
