what is your opinion about the way apple is marketing the iPhone?

do you think its smart for them to make their phone exclusive to only one carrier? would you or do you know anyone that has or plans to drop their current mobile carrier to get an iPhone?

Update:

i hate to break it to you but GSM was not developed by AT&T. and you can always tell when someone has a GSM phone because of the radio interference when they are around any audio equipment. the cellular network really has no bearing on the functionality of the phone. apple probably chose AT&T because after acquiring cingular, they became the largest wireless carrier. all phone manufacturers have a choice when designing their hardware. GSM or CDMA or whatever.

My brother works for AT&T and it's not up to Apple. AT&T was the first to invent a system that will handle the iPhone. This is all before any public knows about anything. Apple and AT&T will make the most profit together. Since the iPhone runs on a GSM network and uses a sim card AT&T was the perfect carrier. Sprint and Verizon do not run on the same network. I used to have Sprint and I dropped it to get the iPhone last month. The call quality and service is much better with AT&T. The customer service at sprint was horrible. I pay $15.00 more for AT&T than I did with Sprint.

But you do get what you pay for.

There are a lot of phones that are exclusive to specific retailers or you have to pay an arm and a leg to get one. I already have AT&T but there is no way I can afford one.
