I want to make Christmas cookies for someone who has helped our family a lot this year. I'm looking for something that isn't your everyday Christmas cookie- something different. Help?

    Unique Christmas Cookies

  • 1 decade ago

When my kids were growing up. I would buy the tube sugar cookies (tryg to save money from mixing the dough orginally) mix with food coloring and roll out and use xmas cookies cuttier and decorative them. Bake 350 for 10 minutes, just watch them closely and bring out and cool. An, I also let the kids decorative them with all kinds of things. My kids LOVE that! Good Luck!

This is more about presentation than a recipe itself. Make homemade chocolate chip cookies. Stack them in the shape of a christmas tree using chocolate frosting, melted, as the glue for keeping them together. Then take some maraschino cherries and attach them with the melted chocolate to the tree as ornaments... use green cherries too! Holds up well and people love grabbing bits and pieces of your tree.

I don't have it in front of me right now. Go to Kelloggs website and look for a cookie that has dates and rice krispies. You cook the dates with sugar and egg I think it is and mix in some rice krispies. Then you let it cool and when you can handle it roll into about 1 inch balls and roll in coconut. They are delish and even people who normally don't care for dates seem to like them.

I have the betty crocker cookie book. One fun and easy cookie to do is a sugar cookie recipe, you cut the batch in half and dye half of it red. Form little ropes out of the regular side and the red side. Lay the ropes side by side and twist them together. Bend the top as you lay the ropes on the cookie sheet. Voila' - Candy cane cookies? They're not hard to do, my kids used to help me make them.

We have been making these cookies for Christmas for as long as I can remember. I don't know why we only make them then, they would be great anytime of year.

    Cherry Winks

    INGREDIENTS

    3/4 cup shortening

    1 cup white sugar

    2 eggs

    2 tablespoons milk

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    2 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour

    1 teaspoon baking powder

    1/2 teaspoon baking soda

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1 cup chopped pecans

    1/3 cup maraschino cherries, chopped

2 1/2 cups crushed cornflakes cereal

    10 maraschino cherries, quartered

    DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease baking sheets.

Cream the shortening with the sugar. Blend in the eggs, milk and vanilla.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in the chopped pecans and 1/3 cup maraschino cherries.

Shape teaspoonful sized chunks of dough into balls. Roll each ball in the crushed corn flakes. Place balls on the prepared baking sheets and top each cookie with 1/4 maraschino cherry.

Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 10 to 12 minutes. Let cool completely before storing in airtight containers.

Source(s): This recipe is in a lot of places, but we have made them forever. The original recipe might have come from Kelloggs, but I am not postive.
