All women should know how to defend themselves.

From a self-defense standpoint, it's not the wisest choice because 1) it's expected, and easily blocked 2) there are plenty of guys who can take the pain and will just be even more pissed off than they were to start with.

If you want to learn defense against an armed opponent, Krav Maga is very effective, as is a good hard crescent kick to the knife hand; but the best defense is always to be vigilant and aware of your surroundings so you don't wind up in that situation.

But from a moral standpoint, every creature on the planet has the right to defend itself from those who would harm or kill, so do whatever works. Do you really want a psycho like that to stick around and reproduce? There are too many like that as it is.

I find it really difficult to accept the supposed intent of this question.

Basically, you are asking, 'If someone is threatening your life through the threatened use of a knife, then would you pose a limit on yourself as to just how far you would or would NOT go in preserving your own Life....?'

On the one hand, you can facilitate the threat of your attacker through kindness by simply 'falling on the knife,' thus making it an attempt at suicide and avoiding any embarrassment for your attacker of having to face any legal charges ...should they arise.

On the other hand, you can do whatever you can to disable your attacker ...being that a knee in the balls, a rendition of some passages from a Holy book and bore him to death ...or the use of some other form of self defense that comes to hand.

Given the state of the Law today, if you did fall on the knife, then there is the possibility of being arrested by the Police for 'attempted robbery' ~ an act of trying to 'steal one knife' from the nice man who was simply showing you his most recent purchase of which he was so proud.

Balls are the greatest weakness a guy can have, men know this, women should by now know this. First the eyes, then the balls, or perhaps a shin then the balls. Anyway the object is somehow to get to a guys balls, that is what puts females in charge and also men who know how to use the natural male weakness of testicles.

I would kick in him in the nuts no problem, I might even try to rip them both off, i might take one of his eyes right out (or both if need be) i might shatter his knee and leave him limping for ever. I might hit him in the throat and crush his larynx. I might elbow him in the temple and scramble him.

He crossed the rubicon when he held a blade to me , he intends to kill me, i will try to disable him(although not kill, unless as an unintended consequence) to ensure that he does not do so. The scenario is vague, but sounds like felony aggravated assault. If I felt my life was endangered, kicking a knife-wielding assailant, whose motivation, skill, and intent are unknown, wouldn't even cross my mind. Something metallic would cross his, however.

If someone's holding me at knife point, I'd do whatever I needed to do to stop him and get away. If kicking him in the balls accomplishes that, then I'd do it.

I definately would! and if a guy knows how sore it would be... then surely they would realise that if they did this to someone with a knife... then they would be able to get away, because they knew that the attacker couldnt possibly attack in that pain? if that maks sense =]

Hell yeah, the way I see it equal force (I hate that term) means using as much force as you think that person would have used on you, so I would be well within my rights (in my own mind) to knee the bastard in the balls and then castrate him.

I'd do whatever it took. It's sort of like this: what would you do if a guy came to you with a gun and said, "get in the car or I'll kill you." What do you think he'd do if you went with him: kill you! So you're better off doing what it takes to distract him and get the heck outta there!
