What are those little claws underneath my pythons tail?

Do they have anything to do with determining the sex of my snake?

as somebody already said, they are leftover limbs from way back then.they are whre the pelvis would be or is. Both sexes have them >the males spurs are normally larger than the females when compared to females the same size. But this is not a reliable determinator of the snakes gender. the best way for sexing is probing the snake or in hatchlings popping them.
