Another question regarding baby showers; who is supposed to give a baby shower and who should be invited?

Is there proper etiquette in regards to whom gives a baby shower? Who should be invited, not forgotten? I was thinking of perhaps thinking of the "new mom" as well in gift ideas, what do you think?

Friends or family give the baby shower. Doesn't matter where it's held (sometimes at the mom-to-be's house because she has the largest 'free' space). It also depends on if this is a co-worker shower (just coworkers) or friends/family. If a coworker shower, just invite coworkers, the mom and maybe a friend to help afterwards. If a family/friend or just a single shower, invite close coworkers, family members, friends and close neighbors (usually childhood home, not current).

Don't forget the stepmom, if there is one, although this is sometimes a challenge. Usually best not to seat them together.

Showers should be thrown by a close friend. Gifts for the new mom are a great idea, but be careful as she may be sensitive about her size so clothing may not be a good gift. All the aunts, grandmothers, sisters, and close friends should be invited.

Throwing the shower once the sex of the baby is known is a good idea so the mom will have just about everything before she comes home from the hospital. Most moms need some alone time after baby comes. Best wishes!

it is in poor taste to throw your own shower first off. the shower is supposed to be showering the new mom with girfts for her new baby so including the mom is in poor taste. think about throwing her a shower after the baby comes. invite people that are close to the family on both sides and people the mom knows.
