My Mother adopted a Year -old-Siamese cat today, how do we properly introduce it to her Dog?
Right now they are in a seperate room for the night, and she is reluctant to just let them meet without some type of control over her Dog,and what to watch for as signs of aggression from her Dog.She will not listen to me,but promised to listen to the best detailed answer from you folks. So here goes, even though I think I know what I would do...
He was around this particular cat before,my Mom won't listen to me ,as I've said, but good suggestion so far ,thanks.
And to the person who said 'in your dog's food bowl' ,I've reported you.Have a nice day.

One don't rush anything. The cat has to get use to its surroundings first. You can't just take an animal and mix them together. If that dog has had the run of the house take it easy, and let him get use to the idea of another animal being in the house.
A one year old cat is probably still going to be playful and might not mix well first.

some breeds of dogs are not good with cats - you should have made yourselves aware of how your dog would react to a cat before getting one..
also a cat who is okay with dogs will not react - a cat who hisses or runs will become a target..
so - yes keep the cat in a room to itself for a few days (you should always do this with a new pet anyhow)
in the mean time work with reminding the dog of any training it has had.. eg. Sit, Stay, Leave it. so that when you do let the cat out you can keep the dogs attention on YOU - not the cat.. use lots of soft treat rewards and if you are concerned - but the dog on a leash.
BAD breeds towards cats are - Huskies, any sight Hounds, some Terriers..
good luck... go slow...
