California driving requirements?

i live in california and im 15 and will be 16 in september 08. one of my friends told me that the law changed. he said that you have to be 16 before 2008 in order to get your drivers license, or else you have to wait until you are 18....? does anyone know if this is true? or can i get my license when im 16 next year....?

    If you are under 18, you can get a provisional drivers license.

    I think your friend is pulling your leg. I have not heard of the driver's license law changing. Good luck as a safe and careful driver.
