    Because enough people are paying $5 per gallon to keep the prices up. Expenses have gone through the roof also. So rices raise. Consumers can either pay the higher prices or not. If they dont suppliers will go under and the few remaining will cause prices to go even higher. Milk is a propaganda food anyway. You can get by just fine with out it after about age 2.

    I figure because the government pays for milk through WIC, so they can spike the prices of that.

    I just paid $4.00 for whole milk , here on Long Island.

    And that makes me wonder, if whole milk is that much, shouldn't 2 % be 98% less money as well ? : )

    i heard a rumor, that it's so high because gas keeps going up, and the delivery trucks need gas..blah blah blah.. the highest i've seen milk here (in MI) is 3.99. still too high
