The way I do this stuff is with OpenOffice.org. It's a free software that has a word processor, slide show maker, spreadsheet maker, etc., and the word processor (OpenOffice.org 2.x Writer) can open Microsoft Word (2003 on down, NOT 2007) and then you can click File...Export as PDF. Voila! You got a FREE PDF with NO watermarks or stupid stuff.
To download the free software, visit:

Try using OpenOffice from www.openoffice.org
It converts microsoft office word files to pdf files unless you are using microsoft office in Mac. Microsoft office in Mac already has the capability to "Print to File" PDF output.

There are plenty of free PDF converters.
PDF995 is one of them (www.pdf995.com).
Most of them work by offering special "PDF Printer", so that when you print any document such as (but not limited to) MS Word document into that printer, it actually gets saved into a PDF file.
