What is meant by the saying "Somethings are best kept to yourself"?

Most of us learn along the way that when some things are spoken of, trouble follows! If you think saying may cause a negative, best to keep it to yourself.

It means that when you have seen or been told certain things, it's best to keep the information to yourself because, if repeated, it could cause pain, upset and arguments to all parties involved.

That some things are best kept to yourself?? Not trying to be funny but isn't it pretty straight forward?

its pretty much an alterintive to the saying "if you've got nothing good to say, don't say anything at all."

there are things that are confidential and need to be keep secret...revealling whatever it is might put you in trouble...

You shouldn't talk about certain things! its a secret keep your gob shut!!!
