McGill and Concordia University?
I've asked this a couple of times in the past, but i would like to gather a little more information.
I'm an university student from Ecuador wishing to study in Canada next year, more speciffically in Montreal. I will apply over the next two months to McGill and Concordia universities(since they are the only two english speaking universities there) and I would like sb to give me any tips for applying there. If I'm accepted in both, which would you recomend?(I'm studying business). And what are the cons and pros of studying in them.
I have really good grades. In highschool, my GDP was the equivalent to 3.9/4. And in this(my first) year of university I have till now 3.8/4. I was the third best of a class of 100 of a very good and prestigious private highschool of my country. Are extracurricullars too important?, the only ones i can recall now are my foreign language classes(french, japanese and little chinese) and the leadership club in the university.

McGill has a reputation for being a tough school. The reality of it is that you will have a lot of work to do, but you can get through it.
As for applying to the B.Com program, your grades are good, but you will have to compare them to the requirements for conversion into the Quebec standards. Depending on how Ecuadorian qualifications are recognized, you may have to take extra classes. Your grades may allow you to receive a scholarship. Keep in mind that when you apply, you are applying to McGill first and Management second. Make sure you have a second choice when you apply because you may be accepted in one program and not another. That being said, if you take certain classes in your first year, it is possible to transfer in to Management relatively easily.
Extracurriculars are good to have when applying to any school. They help to differentiate yourself from other students. You don't have to have tons of them, just, if you're asked, make sure you enjoyed them. McGill has a very active student life with many clubs and activities, if you want to continue to be active in student life, which I recommend.
If you want more information specific to your situation, the e-mail for the McGill B.Com office is: bcom.mgmt@staff.mcgill.ca
They'll put you in contact with someone who will be more knowledgeable about the requirements for your application.

U can get into Concordia maybe, but not McGill if u can maintain a high GPA your first year of college than McGill may be in your future!! PS Take any and every extra-curricular activity you can and make your resume sparkle!!

McGill generally has the better reputation. Though FT.com seems to have ranked MBAs at Concordia 89 this year, and McGill 90.
But rankings mean very little; if you get the chance, a visit is the best thing you can do (though understandable very difficult for you).
Extracurriculars are not very important among most Canadian undergraduate programs. You stand a great chance of being accepted.
