Describe the processes involved in the movement of water from the roots to the leaves?

Pressure differences between the roots and outside air draws the water up through the stem. Substances like to move from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure. The water pressure in the air will rarely be higher than that in the stem so water is drawn up through the stem, into the leaves, and out the stomata.
Also, there are two more minor forces helping the transport. Water molecules "climb" up the walls of the xylem in capillary action. Water tension at the point in the leaves where water actually evaporates increases as more water evaporates causing greater pull upwards. Water molecules are attracted to each other so there is a chain reaction through the water in the xylem as the water in the leaves is acted upon by the water tension.

Water is absorbed by the roots and is taken up the stem of the plant or the flower. then it is distributed to the leaves of the plant. The stem is kind of thought of like a straw and the plant is sucking up the water.
