Ask yourself why? Is this interfering with life? It's just this simple:

Change your mind. (If that sounds hard, then don't make it hard). Maybe early on your brain decided even numbers were easier to process. 2, 4, 6, 8. rather than odds 1,3,5,7. Which makes sense. Just understand that the odd numbers won't effect anything and don't let it be such a control factor. Try odds now and then for fun and maybe you can build up your tolerance.

You could have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) but you'd have a very mild form. Some people just feel uncomfortable with things like the odd number for your music control - and while there could be a reason for it, there doesn't have to be because it's just the way you feel! Most people have a "weirdness" of sorts. I have a friend who doesn't like seeing even numbers on the minutes of a digital clock, so she'll watch it until it changes! Most likely, you'll outgrow this as you learn you have to deal with it. I used to have one as a child but I learned to stop on my own. You could seek counseling if you feel you need it. Good luck.

I'm the same way.....but my numbers have to end in every 5 counts.....for instance: 5, 10, 15, 20 and so on. It's just comforting. If it's time.....it has to be either 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, 1 hours and 15 minutes.....etc. I also don't like stepping on cracks.....well when I was younger. It's bothersome, but I find myself to be more "responsible" when it comes to making sure things are done....kind of like having a checklist up in my head.

I know what you're saying. I'm not as bad as you. I don't mind the volume being on an odd number but I prefer to see even numbers. I'm going to sound really daft admitting this but I will anyway. Even numbers seem cosier to me, kinder and sweet whereas odd numbers seem harsh and cold and not good company. How screwed up is that? Weirdo.

i am EXACTLY like this! i hate odd numbers and i have a habbit of counting things up to 16 for no reason! my sister and i have to have the volume on even numbers too.

i dont think its an illness, but just something you do! no need to worry about it!

Put the volume up or down to what you are happy with, but don't look at the number the volume is on. Hopefully your urge to be on even numbers will subside.

The behavior is kind of OCDish but it doesn't mean you are mentally ill or even that you have obsessive compulsive disorder. The field of mental health is filled with over diagnosing.

We all have weird quirks, I have a mild cause of that same deal you've got, as long as it doesn't severely affect the quality of your life I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if it is, then by all means talk to your general doctor about it.

    you have an OCD

    obsessive compulsive disorder...

It is actually very common, and in my health course we learned that 85% of ppl have some kind of OCD..

when I was younger I had one where I constantly washed my hands over and over... You should just break it with time... And it's not a problem unless it's distrupting your work or school and keeping u from completing daily activities!

My daughter and I are the same way. Gotta be an even number. I also always count the number of steps when going up stairs.

Sounds like OCD. I'm similar, but for me the number has to be a multiple of 5. I can't get out of bed unless my clock reads a multiple of 5 (I won't get out of bed at 08:03, I'll wait 'til 08:05). Generally it does no harm, but if it worries you, you should talk to someone.
