Which Prayer in School?

Why is it that only Christian prayers should be allowed in school. What do you think of a prayer from a different religion being used each day? Why shouldn't some Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Shinto, Buddhist, etc prayers out there too?

Update:

I had previously written:

I am not in favor or ANY prayer in ANY public school. This question is really intended for those who are in favor of it. Would THEY be willing to accept non-christian prayers.

Also, the US is NOT a Christian Country, we have a lot of them here, but I am 100% American and NOT a member of any religion.

Blame the shortsightedness of beauracracy and prejudice. I bet if, during the moment of silence, it would be interesting if someone started a Buddhist chant, and they'd have the first amendment to back them up.

The incident with the Buddhist clergyman that offered a prayer in Congress should be a decent enough example of what would probably happen.

Your question is exactly why the founding fathers specifically banned the idea of mixing Chruch and State. It's also why wars are fought...Who's belief system and hence method of prayer is better yours or mine? Let's stop fighting and begin believing in one another...than and only than will the world be a truly decent place to live (like that's going to happen, lol!!!). PEACE!

The point is, there should be NO prayer allowed in our public, government funded schools. It all goes back to the separation of church and state.

No prayer from any specific belief system should be endorsed by public schools. When I was in school we always had a moment of silence which is sufficient to give a person time to pray to whomever they pray to.

Because we are a Christian Country!

Haven't you heard of silent prayers
