1990 Honda accord cut off and will not start!?
Hello, I have a 1990 honda accord about a month ago the car cut off and I got a new battery because the battery I had was no good, and today as I was driving the car started stalling and then it cut off. The lights went a little dim, but the dashboard lights were strong and the heat and radio worked. I know that the oil light was on before it cut off could that be the problem? Also I can hear a noise as if the car is trying a turn over but its not coming on its not like a screaming noise its just a slight noise. I also wanted to know if it could be that I need a tune up, the car has over 220,000 miles on it.

The headlights could possible be a whole different problem, it's probably a shortage in the wire, or some sort. The stalling could happen with the carborator (sorry im not quite good at spelling). Maybe if it's in the carborator, you should get it cleaned out, since theres so many miles on it, i reccamend you get a tune up in the near future. Have you checked the oil? If the oil check lights on (i've had this problem before), it could also be a shortage in the wires, it could have been slashed, etc. Well i hope you find the problems in your car, and you fix them money efficiently.

The alternator is no good, the new battery helped the car for a month, but the insufficient charging is killing the battery now.

very simple problem i had the same thing happen to me with my honda. it is your ignition switch. try this, turn your key to start the motor but instead of letting go of the key when it turns back hold it in the running position, the motor should keep running if it does it is the ignition switch. be careful not to hold it in the position you have it in when the starter is ingaged you dont want to damage your starter. that switch is not hard to replace for a do it your selfer. email me if you have any questions marcusandfeliciadrake@yahoo.com

oil light. i would check to make sure the motor is not locked up. if the engine turns over but it sounds like it turning really fast then i would check the timing belt. take the oil cap off and have somebody crank it. you should see the cams turning. if they are not turning then the timing belt broke. might have bent valves.

Check your battery and alternator. Could very likely also be a fuel pump, or a fuel line problem.
