Why do people automatically assume that My Chemical Romance fans have bad taste in music?

who ever thinks ppl who like mcr have bad taste r haterz!!! that is that!

The answer is simple if you stepped back and took a rational thought about. Its called stereotypes.

a. MCR fans are emo kids

b. Emo kids only listen to emo

Ofcourse that is far from the truth. You arent necessarly emo if you listen to MCR; Im sure as hell not emo and MCR is one of my favorite bands in that genre. I also listen to all sorts of different genres of music. Some of my favorite bands are Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Mac Dre, MCR, Lamb Of God, Fear Factory, Orgy, The Misfits, Stone Temple Pilots, Breaking Benjamin, Black Sabbath, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Duran Duran, Bleeding Through and even Frank Sinatra. I was raised in an environment where alot of people listened to alot of different stuff and I learned to judge music on its quality and not disreguard anything before giving it a non judgemental listen.

Most of the people who dash MCR have automatically assumed "crappy emo band" without giving it that non judgemental listen.

But on the flip side, no, they are not the best band ever and just because you think they are now doesnt mean you will in a few years. You might look back and think "what the hell was I thinking?" You ever heard of a thing called nu-metal? Just like emo is the scene for 12-16 year olds, nu-metal was the scene when I was 15, and yea it was cool then but now, I cant stand to listen to Limp Bizkit and Staind. What the hell was I thinking?

Well...I am one of those people, and I am sorry...however the reason that I personally think that is because

A:

Many fans (that I have met, by the way, I'm not trying to stereotype MCR fans) are 13 year old girls who only listen to them because "(insert member name here) is hott".

B:

My Chemical Romance is a pop-punk mainstream band, that many "true" metalheads would consider trash, and because they enjoy mainstream popularity, makes them rather known and people can say that they love MCR when they only know them from TV. They are the stereotypical wanna-be punk band, with eyeliner and singing about suicide and such. While I cannot truly judge them, because in all honestly I have only heard Helena, and I'm Not Ok, but they are not my type of music.

Many metalheads (in my experience) who listen to 'old' music, such as Misfits, AC/DC, Metallica, GnR, etc. Are EXTREMELY against these new pop-punk/mainstream bands, because they consider them 'sellouts'. So...that's my opinion on the subject, but don't let anyone's hatred or dislike of a band keep you from changing you mind, or losing loyalty to them (I know I don't really have to say that, you know it, but just to double check :) )

Congratulations on being a MCR fan that listens to awesome music, I am probably wrong, and most MCR fans DO listen to good music, lol.

**** no, you're music taste is pretty ace! I mean a bit average, but a lot better than hip-hop! You're music taste is awesome (likin the Imagine Dragons and Muse!) If you haven't already I personally recommend trying Frightened Rabbit, Artic Monkeys, Admiral Fallow, The Killers, Keaton Henson, Lucy Rose, and Awolnation! Whatever the case, YOU DO NOT HAVE BAD MUSIC TASTE. Screw those who say you should listen to different stuff, you listen to what you want!

I strongly agree with you. All these labels given suck hardcore. If you like something then go ahead and like it. I love My Chemical Romance along with classic rock, pop, and even country. For the MCR fans who won't listen to other bands, I have some advice for you: get a life. Sure, I love MCR, but their are lots of other awesome bands as well. Anyway, I don't think I have bad taste in music, and if someone tells me I do I honestly don't give a care.

They've got issues. I don't understand why some people will go all out to insult a band! MCR is my favourite band but though I love them, I don't insult bands that others love. I think it's best if we ignored haters and continue loving their songs as we do.

Yes, it ticks me off too.

Everyone has an opinion, but not everyone goes all out to insult another band/musician. I think that the problem is, some of those people think MCR is an 'emo' band and start calling their music shallow and gay and all that. I think that there's nothing wrong expressing opinions, but to insult to an extreme is not healthy either.

Another thing is, haters tend to think MCR fans should 'slit their wrists'. Now really, what kind of narrow-mindedness is this? I am not insulting anyone in particular, just being honest. And just because MCR's music is dark, that doesn't mean it is intended to depress others or to make people feel hopeless.

Some MCR fans are obsessed, but like you said, not all of us are like that. In fact, no biasness, most MCR fans do listen to other music. As for me, I listen to many different genres and I do have other favourite bands/singers apart from MCR, who are my number one. And I don't get why haters would bother answering questions about MCR whom they claim to hate. Some of them don't even try to answer politely, instead they just trash the band and say "MCR stinks" and all that. Who is the rude one now, huh?

On behalf of all MCR fans, I would just like to say that haters of the band don't affect us negatively at all. Say all that you want, but it won't change our love for the music MCR makes.

They probably think that we have bad tastes in music because they listen to different things [not MCR] and what they listen to is the best in their opinion, and anything other than that is bad.

And that's what people who like MCR do to. Because they like MCR they think it is the best so anything else is bad.

Then with this happening both people try to convince [sometimes not in a nice way] each other that what they are listening to is cr ap and they should listen to what they listen to, as it is the best.

-They don't agree .. and this is how we end up with all this "MCR SUCK" blah blah blah.. and then the fans go right back and get all defensive, shoving MCR down their throats, Leading to more MCR SUCK comments because they hate them even more.

probably they are all said by people that really DO have a bad taste in music. for example, ever heard of this rap/r&b(who CARES) song? and watch their music video? anyone that likes rap, and thinks people waving their hands and hopping to the side is a cool dance, needs a reality check. seriously, im a MCR fan (a Chemical nut XD) but i also like other bands like Marylin manson, Bullet for my Valentine and Hawthorne Heights (to list a few). next time anyone say that to u just say FCK YOU! he who does not know rock does not know true music.

1) Unfortunately, I've heard Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge and The Black Parade in full length multiple times and if forced, I can sing along to most their songs. And no, I don't enjoy any of it. Not all the "bold and brave" as you say, listen to MCR. I've been criticized by my peers for NOT liking MCR, so I'm going against the currents aren't I? People like what they like, end of story.

2) Good for you :0). With my personal experience with a lot of MCR fans (usually my friends) is I get called "an old fart" for liking classic rock and a "freak" for liking prog rock. It's personal experience that leads me to believe that MCR fans don't share the same taste as I do. There are exceptions, but it seems like the mass majority reject other bands.

btw, did you know MCR is not part of spell check? That always fascinates me....

1.Stop Grouping People Together

2. Stop saying people aren't brave because they don't listen to MCR. Because personally, I have heard that crap that you call music and that's the reason I don't like it! Because it STINKS!
