How to add win OS to a PC running ONLY .DOS programs?

The kids have an IBM E Server, that currently has ONLY dos based programs on it. has pent 3 chip.

They have a win 95 os cd, however, something in the Dos is preventing them from just inserting and running it.

this pc was used for a grocery store checkout system. they need to remove as much of the dos based programs as possible to be able to add the win os.. then to upgrade to newer versions.

Any ideas?

For installing Windows you would boot from the CD. (In otherwords, put the CD in and reboot the computer.) If you reformat the drive during the install process that will get rid of the DOS stuff, and everything else that's on the harddrive. (So backup anything you might want to save first.)

the boot record is different. try this out

    type in

    fdisk

format ur system using the options

    then follow the option required

then insert the CD , this should install win95 or whatever u want

see that ur win95 cd is bootable
