Did the DMV take my title?

I just registered my truck a week ago. A couple of days later I realized my title wasn't with the rest of my paper work. Does the DMV take your title and send you a new one when you switch owners? Or did I just loose the darn thing?

Update:

Ok, that makes me feel better. I thought I was going crazy. Thanks!

The DMV takes the old title that was in the other person's name, and they issue you a new one.

Did you take a loan on the truck? If so the bank keeps the title. If you requested a new title it will come in the mail.

It will be coming in the mail. They need to make a new one with your name on it.
