Does anybody else think the BCS sucks?
Alright, I have had enough. The NCAA D-I (or FBS or whatever thet-re now called) bowl system sucks. First, at the start of the season, 51 teams are guarenteed to not win the BCS title (those being the teams from the Mountain West Conference (MWC), Sun Belt Conference (SBC), Western Athletic Conference (WAC), Conference USA (C-USA), and the Mid-American Conference (MAC)). Second, these teams HAVE to go undefeated in order to even make the BCS games (though even then, that is not a guarentee (Boise State Broncos, 2005-2006 season)). Third, so many schools, if they lose even once, will have no shot at the title. I can go on and on forever about it. the fact of the matter is, a playoff is needed. I say go with a 16-team playoff (11 conference champions, the Independent with the best record overall, and 4 at-large teams) to determine the championship. Anybody else have an idea or opinion on the matter.
with the whole mid-major thing. i say this because how do you know these teams suck. I sure dont. Is it really fair that 51 1-A teams cannot win the 1-A title? No, it isn't. Which is why I say put them in the playoff. Don't take Cinderella out of the big dance. Any mor thoughts?

Exactly. The sickest thing is that #1 and #2 are going to be two teams that have 2 losses each...while the only Undefeated team and the only 1 loss team are barely getting into BCS games...it's completely ridiculous. Dan Wetzel's system is the best idea. It takes away all the BS and will actually decide who is the best...after everyone plays...the last one standing. Please, LET'S HAVE A PLAYOFF!!

Go back to the way is was before.
Playoffs will not help. 16 teams intereferes with the regular season and you risk injury. Remeber this is a college sport, not pro. It is a brutal full contact sport not like basketball. It is not worth the health risk of these scholar athletes to does this. If you go to 8 teams, still too many teams left out and you have solved nothing. Basketball has 65 now and every year people cry about getting left out.
Blame the SEC for the BCS. They got together with Big East and Big 12 and decided this was a brilliant idea. It would allow more of thier teams to go to big bowls and break up the Pac 10 - Big 10 relationship that dominated national interest.
The Big 10 and Pac 10 said you guys are really silly and no thanks, 6 years later in 1998 they broke down and joined after this "BCS" system was creating split chamionships between polls and the other leauges agree to comprimise and leave the bowls intacted and never touch the rose bowl.
Then in 2003 Miami left for the ACC and the Big East went to heck. Then Miami and Florida St had some serious issues that tarnished their programs for years to go and this really just weaked the ACC recruiting programs.
But remember it is still all a money thing they were after.
But each year these BCS teams get token rankings to boost the validity of the system (here is the flaw). This is propigated by the media with smoke and mirrors. I.e.
Basicly blame the media, blame the voters. These are the 2 groups you will never get rid of, so no matter what you do it is really messed up.

Yea, the BCS sucks, but so does your play-off analogy. The conferences you mentioned, have weak teams. The MWC, SBC, WAC C-USA & MAC don't deserve an "automatic bid" to the BCS for winning such sub-par conferences. The objective is to get the best teams in the play-offs, not an 8-4 Troy team or an 8-5 Central Michigan team.

So what...you let a mid major team into a bracket playoff and (with the exception of a few) they get killed in the first round. To say that a MAC team champion is as deserving as a Big 10 champion is just ridiculous.

Actually yes, and it's one of the reasons why I am much more of a college basketball fan. The anticipation of March Madness and the possibility for one of sixty-five teams to have a chance at the title kills the stupidity of college football's post season. I just can't wait for football to be over so we can get on with the real sport of basketball.

Yes I am. I really like Texas and Alabama. I think Texas has the best quaterback in the NCAA right now, but as far as his supporting cast-Overated. I also like Mark Ingram and Alabama's dominant defense. I think it will be a good game but they could have put some more thought in their decision.
