    He was speaking to His believers. The point was a promise that He was not forsaking them by His death. The chosen ones are the ones who accept Jesus and the forgiveness of their sins, that He offers through His sacrifice on the cross.

    I've read that it is actually a reference to a traditional Jewish wedding. Sometimes a place would be added onto the dwelling of one of the parents. I did the research in college and that was a lot of years ago. Sorry, if I don't remember everything.

    Jesus was talking to his followers, the gentile. Non Jewish folks.
