removing then pins will not work if you notice the knuckles on hinges are not straight that's because when the door is closed it binds the knuckles not allowing the hinges to come apart if its an older mortise lock it will have springs and tension levers inside the housing which may have come apart very easy fix as far as getting the door open if u can remove the lever from the spindle usually with an allen nut facing towards the floor u may be able to using a flat screwdriver turn the plunge that way if not u can slip a window glazing putty knife in front of the strike and possibly force it in the housing if that doesn't work id have to have a little more information on the lock itself to better guide you

    good luck

let me know if i can be of any help

if you are talking about the lock in a UPVC door then you are wasting your time taking the pins out the hinges because there are pins in the hinge side also, if something has broken inside the lock then it is locked in five places down the lock side you might be able to see if there is something broken if you can take off the handle on the inside of the door try that and see if that helps good luck

dont try taking the pins out you will destroy them get a hacksaw blade and cut through the lock in between the door and frame
