Almost 40% of the population has O+ blood

Patients with Type O blood must receive Type O blood

About half of all blood ordered by hospitals in our area is Type O

Type O blood is the universal blood type and is the only blood type that can be transfused to patients with other blood types

In the UK , most people are either Type O (45%) or A (42%). The rest of the population are B or AB, with AB being the rarest. Type B is more common in Asian populations.

Most people (85%) are rhesus positive. Generally speaking the commonest blood group is 0 positive and the rarest AB negative.

There are a lot more factors that make blood typing more complicated.

    Most common is O+ (yours)

    Rarest is AB-

    From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_type:

    In the US:

    O+….A+….B+..AB+...

    38%.34% ..9% ..3% ...

    O−...A−….B−...AB−

    7% .6% ...2% ...1%

    Here's the dope on O+

    from http://chapters.redcross.org/br/northernohio/INFO/...

    * Almost 40% of the population has O+ blood

    * Patients with Type O blood must receive Type O blood

    * About half of all blood ordered by hospitals is Type O

    * Type O blood is the universal blood type and is the only blood type that can be transfused to patients with other blood types

    * Only about 7% of all people have Type O negative blood

    * Type O negative blood is the preferred type for accident victims and babies needing exchange transfusions

    * There is always a need for Type O donors because their blood may be transfused to a person of any blood type in an emergency

You can give blood to people with O+ A+ B+ AB+

You can receive blood from people with O+ O-

Good for you first time blood donor. I am o- and a 25 gallon donor.yes O+ is the most common and i thought that AB- was the rarest,I could be wrong. O- people are called universal donors because everyone,in an emergency can take our blood but we must have O-.

    keep it up.

I'm B+. The rarest is AB-. O+ is the most common, and you can give O- to a person with any blood group.

The rarest blood group is o- which is a universal donor.the most common blood group is probably is o+. a person having o+ blood group has no antigen in the RBC but both the antibodies along with Rh factor

You, being O+, can give blood to any person with any blood type as far as I know. Other blood groups can only donate to others with the same blood group.

Well I am opposite as I am AB-.

    There are four groups

    A

    B

    AB

    O,

each of which can be with (+) or without (-) the Rhesus Factor

The prevalence of groups varies with race. In Europeans, O is the most common.
