If Gaffney's TD catch was ruled incomplete (like i feel it really was)?

would the Pats have gotten a first down at the Ravens 4 anyway because of Bart Scott's tirade after the play? While I think the pass was incomplete I bet the Pats would have had four more shots at the endzone.

Update:

SGold- I didn't mean if it was ruled incomplete on the field. Let me clarify, I meant if it was overturned on review.

Yes. The Pats usually manage to capitalize on their opponents' failures in the fourth quarter, and although it would still have been a nailbiter, it would've happened.

The question then becomes - would the Ravens have had enough time to make it back downfield? The penalties assessed before the kickoff made a TD return impossible. If those penalties were assessed pre-TD, then they would have had a chance for a good return (maybe for a TD or at least FG position) and time to figure out what to do then.

The Ravens did not help themselves and the Pats capitalized on it.

If the correct call on the field had been made incomplete then the Patriots would have had the ball on the 2. The reason being is Bart Scott had two dead ball fouls called so half of the orginal penalty would have taken it to the 4 then the other penalty would have made it at the 2. The official who made the call should be penalized by the NFL Gaffney never had full possession of the ball.

What does it matter. The Pats won and there were so many bad calls and unsportsmanlike conduct last night, neither side is innocent. The Pats won because they were able to see past all that and just get back to the game. However, I think that the Ravens would have had this game if there was but 1 more second left upon the clock.

After the barrage of penalties that took place after it regardless if he had caught it or not the Pats would have have 1st and goal at the 1. Do they score? More than likely.

Chances are they would have gotten in anyways...too many things were falling the the direction of the Pats that night.

Well that's a silly question. His TIRADE was BECAUSE the call. If the call had been an incomplete pass, as he felt it was, then Scott wouldn't have likely got the first flag to throw into the stands.

they'd have moved the ball half the distance to the goal twice because of the two fouls.

after that... pats would have used three plays to get it to fourth and goal from the 2... and some other pile o' crap would have happened to get them off the hook of 4th and goal.

    *_*

in other words, the refs were going to make darn sure that the pats scored a touchdown, period. whether they were doing so because of vegas bookie action or the commissioner has made an express request of the officials... it doesn't really matter.

Oh it was incomplete, without a doubt, there was space between the ball and his forearm AND fingertips, he did NOT have control when he went out of bounds

Yeah, it wasn't incomplete. A hand switch isn't a bobble.

So the answer to your question is "No". As in "No you should probably not do methamphetamine before you post"
